De todas formas, me pregunto si diseñar y fabricar coches es un negocio rentable hoy día. Desarrollar un coche cuesta cada vez más dinero (a pesar de las sinergias) y emplean cada vez menos trabajadores. Casi todas las marcas "generalistas" necesitan constantemente ayudas estatales, so amenaza de cerrar y dejar en la calle a x empleados. Vamos, que es un negocio que solo se sostiene en pié en época de vacas gordas, y ni siquiera siempre.

Si el estado suelta un montón de millones para mantener abierta, por ejemplo, la fabrica de Ford en Almusafes durante tres o cuatro años, ¿casi no sería mejor emplear ese dinero en construir parques industriales y ayudas a la creación de pequeños negocios? cada vez estoy convencido de que hacer Focus, Fiestas, Corsas etc...no tiene sentido en Europa si es una tarea deficitaria en cuanto las cosas se tuercen un poco.

Volvemos a las andadas:

Ahora parece que el congreso de los EEUU, si diera, el jueves el sí a las tres marcas,GM, Ford y Chrysler,(25.000 millones de dólares) podrían beneficiarse SÓLO las que se fabriquen en territorio americano. Con lo cual el gobierno sueco se está viendo presionado, a partir del fin de semana pasado, ya que se han publicado encuestas en Suecia donde el 70% de los encuestados se muestran a favor de que el estado intervenga, ya que la más importante industria automovilística sueca está en manos de los EEUU.
EEUU se encuentra sumida en una crisis sin precedentes y suecia está casi ajena a esta situación.
Si GM y Ford fuesen a la quiebra, y Saab y Volvo fueran arrastradas, Suecia se quedaría de golpe sin el 15% de sus exportaciones y la industria automotriz mas allá de saab y de volvo, se calcula en 700 empresas, en un país con 9 millones de habitantes y con 140.000 empleados en la industria automotriz.

Con todo esto el gobierno sueco se ha comprometido a apoyar a los fabricantes y se atreven a garantizar que se seguirán fabricando automóviles en Suecia ya que es un pilar importante en la economía.

eso de "expeditiva" suena muy muy mal, ya dicen que venderian parte de Saab y se quedarian con el centro de Ingenieria, que es lo que les ha dado mucha chicha en los ultimos años, entre turbos, medio ambiente, etanol, seguridad....

Request: $18 billion

GM's plan asks Congress for $12 billion in loans by the end of March. It seeks another $6 billion in revolving credit if market conditions don't turn around.

The total request is higher than the $10 billion to $12 billion that GM CEO Rick Wagoner requested of lawmakers during congressional hearings two weeks ago.

Henderson called the GM plan "a blueprint for creating a new General Motors -- one that is leaner, profitable, self-sustaining and fully competitive." Among its key features:

• Reducing the number of GM brands and nameplates, a step GM critics have demanded for years.

Henderson said GM will seek a buyer for Saab. Pontiac will be shrunk to a "specialty, niche" brand, Henderson said. GM already has put Hummer up for sale.

Under its franchise agreement with Saturn dealers, GM will seek a new course for that brand, Henderson said. Asked whether GM would sell or fold Saturn, he said he would not eliminate any options.

The brand "is just not successful," Henderson said.

The number of GM nameplates would drop from 63 today to about 40 by 2012, Henderson added.


Si se puede hacer?? porque no?? no seria la primera vez. Recuerdo cuando el concesionario al que llevamos el coche era Mercedes Benz, mi padre compro alli un MB190E 2.5 16v, el de la primera serie de 204cv, estaba guapo pero esta primera serie dio problemas a mas no poder. Habia un cliente tan cabreado que queria ir a la fabrica de Mercedes a quemar el coche alli en frente, y el tio no faroleaba, lo tenia bien pensado y meditado.

General Motors is considering selling its Swedish premium brand Saab.

"We will look at all the possible options, including possible sale, starting immediately," Fritz Henderson, GM's vice chairman and chief operating officer, said.

Henderson said a speedy decision to the future of the Swedish brand was desirable, but would give no timeline for how long it will take.

"We will work to bring a resolution to this. Sooner is better," Henderson said in a conference call.

The Saab review is part of GM's restructuring plan, which the automaker will submit to the U.S. Congress this week.

The plan says GM will focus on its "core brands" of Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac.

In addition to the Saab review, GM said it was looking at alternatives to its Saturn brand and will reduce further its manufacturing costs.

GM has already carried out a review of its Hummer SUV brand.

In Europe, Henderson said the company was talking to employee representatives at its German unit Opel about cost savings.

He added that he was pleased with the reaction to Opel's new products such as the new Insignia upper-premium sedan, but said: "The conditions in Europe are miserably difficult at the moment."

The automaker is asking for loans of up to $12 billion to enable it to keep running through December 31, 2009.

GM said it will need to draw the first $4 billion in December 2008.

In addition to the bridge loans, the company is requesting a $6 billion line of credit to provide liquidity should a severe market downturn persist.

GM said it would repay the loans as soon as 2011.
