"VW makes much of the fact the Phaeton W12 has been designed to cope with speeds up to 190 mph. But doesn´t mean much when you´re stuck in traffic on the M25 on the hottest day of the year, furiosly punching buttons on the dash in a vain effort to make the high-tech air conditioning work.
The W12´s electronic architecture boasts 3.2 km of cable an 62 control units. But it also seems to have as many bugs as Windows 2000. As well as the AWOL air-con, the parking brake release didn´t work properly, THE DRIVER´S SIDE WINDOW SOMETIMES OPENED ITSELF AFTER BEING CLOSED, and the sat-nav stopped working a couple of times. All this would be annoying enough in a Golf; in a car costing-as tested- over 76.000, it´s unforgivable......."
